Our 3 day visit to St Petersburg in 2015 is one of the highlights of my travels around the globe.
The fascinating history and incredible opulence of the period made for an incredible visit.
The itinerary was well designed, and each day was interesting, informative and exciting.
Over three days we visited St Peter and Paul’s Fortress , the very Russian Church of the Spilled Blood, the magnificent Hermitage , the Youssoupoff Palace where Rasputin had his last supper and the wonderfully restored Peterhof . During this time we crisscrossed St Petersburg many times, travelled in the underground , ate in a local café , went shopping for eggs at the Faberge Museum.
Olga Bychek, our tour guide and principal of BeHappyRussia, was very knowledgeable and informative . The days with Olga became more like visiting with a friend who was showing us her St Petersburg .
BeHappyRussia was well organised and the experience was hassle free, with good drivers and clean Mercedes cars. One very important aspect of using a tour guide such as Olga was the way we accessed the Hermitage before the crowds of people , and believe me there are lots of people, and at the Faberge Museum it appeared that we were the only ones there. How this was organised I am not sure but it’s a great benefit .
St Petersburg is a must visit , a kaleidoscopic city of historical delights , but to me the highlights were the Church of the Spilled Blood, the Hermitage and Olga Bychek were the highlights.
